As compared to Daman which is a beach town, Silvassa is surrounded by lush green hills and meadows. Silvassa, which is the capital of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli was another sleepy village until the 19th century. In the year 1885, the Portuguese decided to shift the headquarters from Dadara, changing the fate of Silvassa for good which was then converted into a town. After shifting the base from Dadara by Portuguese, Silvassa was known as Vila de Paco d’Arcos (named after the town near Lisbon – Paco d’Arcos, Oeiras). The Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Piety was eventually built by the Portuguese in Silvassa around 1886 and 1889. The church has grey exteriors built in stone. But the stunning interiors resemble more of the European Gothic architecture and a fleeting similarity to Sagrada familia in Barcelona, designed by Antoni Gaudi. Church of Our Lady of Piety is one of the oldest Portuguese churches standing in the region around the Church was damaged by an earthquake that shook this area back in 1912. It was closed for renovation and was again opened in June 1924. It is presently managed by the society of Pila of Silvassa.

Balaji Temple (Devanagari: बालाजी मन्दिर) in Mehandipur, Dausa district, located on the border of Karauli district and Dausa district, is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu deity Hanuman. The name Balaji refers to Shri Hanuman in several parts of India because the childhood (Bala in Hindi) form of the Lord is especially celebrated there. The temple is dedicated to Balaji (another name for Shree Hanuman Ji). Unlike similar religious sites it is located in a town rather than the countryside. Its reputation for ritualistic healing and exorcism of evil spirits attracts many pilgrims from Rajasthan and elsewhere. The temple has been known for many years, for exorcism from evil spirits attachments and black magic or spells.[3][4] In 2013, an international team of scientist, scholars and psychiatrists from Germany, Netherlands, AIIMS, New Delhi, and University of Delhi started a study to evaluate all aspects of treatment and rituals at the temple.

Nakshatra Garden is an Astro-themed garden, which has a large variety of plants and trees linked to zodiac signs. The garden has been designed according to the Indian system of astrology that links plants with the motion of different planets. The garden has a dedicated play area for kids. The well-maintained garden also has numerous little ponds and various species of trees. The ponds are linked by small bridges and serve as a home for various species of ducks. The garden is famous for its medicinal herbs and plants including Ayurvedic herbs. The beautiful walking tracks in the garden are lined with botanical plants with their nameplates. The park remains open for visitors from 6.30 am to 7 pm every day.

Situated at Kudacha-village, Silvassa, Dadra &Nagar Haveli, Om Nikhileshwar Mahadev Mandir is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The construction of 'OM' shaped temple started on 21st April 2004 by Shree Nikhil Trimurti Pranav Charitable Trust. Other than Lord Shiva, the temple houses a total of 126 deities. The area of Om Nikhileshwar Mahadev Mandir is 40,000sq.ft. The construction of the temple started on 21st April,2004. The temple has about 400 pillars. No steel has been used in the construction of the temple as it being a Mahadev Temple. According to the legends, Om Nikhileshwar Mahadev Mandir is built inspired by Siddhashram, a very ancient and holy Ashram situated in North of Kailash & Mansarover.
